Future Of The Past – (System Shock – IR-C-092 – 1996)

„Future of the past” to płyta, o której mówi się stosunkowo mało, praktycznie w ogóle.

„Future of the Past” wydany został w 1996 roku nakładem „System Shock” (Europa zachodnia), a w Polsce Koch International (CD i kaseta, które widzicie poniżej).

„Future of the past” is an album that is not often mentioned, practically not at all. It is not a premiere material, but covers. For me, however, it is important Vader release and I am always happy to return to it. I consider playing other people’s stuff as if it was your own as an art. Not everyone can do it, and in fact there are very few bands that can boast this skill. Vader could and still can. Recorded in 1996 in Selani in Olsztyn, „Future of the Past” was dedicated to the bands that inspired Vader – as Peter clearly stated in the booklet. There are classics from the repertoire of Possessed, Terrorizer (as many as two tracks – of which „Fear of Napalm” is my favourite from this album), Sodom, Slayer (the excellent „Silent Scream”), Kreator, Dark Angel, Celtic Frost, Black Sabbath, and even Anti-Nowhere League or Depeche Mode. Black Sabbath and Depeche songs could already be heard on the „Sothis” EP and on the „Act of Darkness” single. Every song here sounded as if it had come out of the Vader’s hand. With their own sound, energy, aesthetics. Classy and a true tribute to the groups whose compositions were chosen to be included here. This CD was also the beginning of a three-year collaboration with Selani studio, where Vader also recorded „Black to the Blind” and „Kingdom”.

„Future of the Past” was released in 1996 by „System Shock” (Western Europe), and in Poland by Koch International (CD and cassette, which you see below). In the USA, the album was released on CD by Pavement (1998), and in Japan by the now well-known Avalon (1997). In 2002, the album was reissued on CD and cassette by Metal Mind, while 2015 brought reissues done by Witching Hour, including the vinyl version for the first time. „Future of the Past” has also lived to see more or less official cassette releases in the Czech Republic, Russia, Ukraine and Bulgaria over the years.
